Pop A Balloon
Kagame warns Tshisekedi, Ndayishimiye; As he made reference to how easy it is to pop a balloon, Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame sent a loud warning to his counterparts in Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo after the former made uncalled for statements on the running of Rwanda
Burundi’s President Ndayishimiye while speaking to a group of youth in neighbouring DRC threatened to support a regime change in Rwanda. This follows up on similar remarks made prior to December’s elections in the DRC where the polarising figure of Tshisekedi continued to blame Rwanda for his own failures.
South Africa milestone win at ICJ was for Africa in spite of Sebutinde let down
It was a small win but looking at the glass half full, South Africa’s provisional win at the ICJ case against Israel united Africa or at least the majority of Africans. Citizens on the continent have continued to rally behind Palestine and calling for the end to the Genocide happening in Gaza. In the ruling, 15 of the 17 judges on the ICJ voted for emergency measures that covered most of what South African had asked for, with the notable exception of ordering a halt to Israeli military action in Gaza. But of the 2 judges that ruled against the ruling, Africans were left disappointed that Ugandan Judge Julia Sebutinde was one of 2 judges that voted against the ruling with the other Judge coming from, yep..Israel. Such a shame.
